An Arthur D. Little South East Asia team successfully completed a 10-week assignment with an Asian Plantations company to value the operations of an investment target - one of the largest oleochemicals manufacturer with operations in Europe, North America and Asia. The South East Asian team was ably supported by several members of the global chemicals practice.
Arthur D. Little was hired to conduct a review of the trends and prospects of the oleochemicals sector in different markets, as well as review target's business prospects, and then recommend a fair market market value for the target's oleochem operations that were to be carved out from a larger chemicals business. The valuation was complicated by virtue of the multiple product lines across geographically dispersed production sites, internal transfer pricing and tolling arrangements.
Arthur D. Little arrived at its valuation estimate using the discounted cash flow approach and comparable analysis. Our valuation estimate and other related inputs are expected to form the basis the client's decision and negotiations.
